Livin' Large

Hello friends and family! We miss so many of you (or at least Alex does, being quite nostalgic in the third trimester) and are always so excited to hear from you or see you.

One of the main highlights of Alex's week was starting childbirth classes this past week. She loves being around other pregnant ladies. We actually already know someone in the class, a business acquaintance of Jonathan's from his old job and his wife. They are a fun couple and we will hopefully have them over to dinner. She is due a week after Alex.

Speaking of Jonathan's old job, he got a call from them on Thursday morning to see if he could work on Friday for them. Apparently they were down a few doctors and were quite desperate for some help. After a morning of phone call after phone call, the company decided to write him a temporary malpractice insurance for the day. So he went in on Friday and was reminded of all the reasons why he quit in the first place. But it was good money and he got to see some people that he really enjoyed working with and getting to know. He will probably work another Friday at the end of the month.

This weekend, Jonathan's good buddy Mike Moyer and his wonderful wife Danae came down for some fun in the sun. They were troopers and drove down from Philadelphia on Friday right after work. Saturday morning we all got up pretty early and drove out to Smith Mountain lake. Mike brought his jet ski and for the morning we all took turns playing around on in. We rode solo, tandem and also took turns being pulled on an inner tube. It was way fun. Jonathan's bum is bruised from some long turns on the inner tube. Alex wasn't even planning on going on the jet ski and hesitantly agreed to ride tandem with Jonathan after watching everybody else have some fun. Jonthan made a promise that she wouldn't get wet. Of course you all know what happened next. As soon as Alex hopped up behind Jonathan the jet ski flipped and they both went in the drink. Alex wasn't even wearing her swimsuit. Poor Alex! We all got a pretty good laugh out of it once we knew she was okay. In the afternoon we rented a boat and cruised around the lake. Pete and Chrissy and the kids also met us at the lake and we took the kids out in the boat. Ivy enjoyed it quite a bit more than Rex did. Rex was not much of a fan of the wind in his face. After dropping Pete and Chrissy and the kids off on the shore we spent a couple of hours touring around the lake. It is a huge lake with hundreds of little inlets so we didn't get to see everything but we did see quite a bit of it. There are tons of just beautiful huge houses along the shore. We were all exhausted after that so we just came home and played some phase 10.

Today was another great day at church. Pete also came over for dinner tonight as Chrissy and the kids had left the night before to head down to N.C. to help care for her sister Katie who had just gone into labor and who had her baby this morning. We had pizza, homemade ice cream and then played some music together. Alex played the violin. Pete did the pennywhistle and the mandolin and Jonathan held down the rhythm on guitar. We played through some celtic pieces and had a great time.

Sure do love all of you tons and hope to see you all sometime in the near future.
